Finally reached the plane, OFF TO PHILIPPINES

Finally reached the plane, OFF TO PHILIPPINES

When a design is focused, it instantly becomes good. A good design is effective and efficient in fulfilling its purpose. It relies on as few external factors and inputs as possible, and these are easy to measure and manipulate to achieve an expected other output. The design would also use a lot of contrasted colour pallet within, giving it a balanced end result.

These examples of graphic designs are taken from tumbler.
I like these photos as the colours match in each design, they are also very pleasing to the eyes. I presented two types of graphic design styles, a simple solid colour with a lot of negative space, and a complex geometrical, graphic that has a consistency of shapes, lines and patterns.
These photographs are going to be similar to my final photography project.

Rodney Smith was a prominent photographer whose whimsical work invited comparison to that of surrealist painter Rene Magritte. Long acclaimed for his iconic black and white images that combine portraiture and landscape, Smith created enchanted worlds full of subtle contradictions and surprises. Using only film and light, his un-retouched, dream-like images are matched in quality by the craft and physical beauty of his prints.

Rodney Smith has inspired me through the camera techniques he had applied when taking pictures, As shown the main focus of the pictures is the model in the middle, but the background is set in a presented way of blur yet clearness when focused upon.

Doug Chinnery’s Photography work has inspired me by the artistic techniques he uses, making his photography look more like a painting, using the difference of color and advanced photoshopping skills.

Patrick Demarchelier, uses backgrounds that would give more of a focus on the models, allowing them to pop out and become the main attraction.
As my final photography unit, I will be traveling to Philippines, and helping less fortunate kids there, Where I will also take photos of they’re reactions and daily life’s. This project will reflect the loneliness, pain and suffer this kids go through every day, yet still shows their emotions towards the situation, making them happy and proud to where they’ve reached.

A man carries a huge hammerhead shark through the streets of Mogadishu. A recent escalation of plunder in Somali waters by foreign fishing vessels could mean the return of hijackings, locals warn. The country’s waters have been exploited by illegal fisheries, and the economic infrastructure that once provided jobs has been ravaged as a result. (Marco Gualazzini)

These photo caught ,my attention as the colour used is very bright and clear, yet it is still pleasing the eye.

Shujaa Graham. Death Row Exonerate. Member of Witness to Innocence. Exonerate number 20 in the USA since the reinstatement of capital punishment in 1976. Spent eight years in prison (1973-1981), five of those in California’s death row for a crime he didn’t commit. (lensculture)
I like this photograph as it gives a lot of focus, towards the prisoner (the main model), The black background helps emphasise the mood of the photograph giving it a serious and mysterious presentation.

Maxim. Maxim, 43, has been a sapeur since he was seven years old. He mixes labels such as Yves Saint Laurent, Pierre Cardin and Christian Dior with suits that he has designed and made himself. Now married with two children, he teaches others the art of how to dress elegantly. Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo (lensculture)
This image is very interesting to me, as it somewhat promotes a statement yet also tells a story to the viewers. The attire the model is wear does not match the location the photography scene is. Stating that no matter how u dress and how you look you always fit in. This photograph was taken by Tariq Zaidi, a photographer who goes to less fortunate countries taking photos like this.

Helene. Helene Ntumba, 49, was held as a sex slave by the Bana Mura militia for three months before she managed to escape to Tshikapa in the Kasai region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where there are dozens of women who are still being held captive. (lensculture)
This photograph was taken by Kate Geraghty, a photographer who captures women who have survived through a-lot. Photographs like this is very touching as Geraghty is promoting a statement of, you never know who’s been through what yet its always traumatising.

Sonko, a former Deputy Sheriff of the Gambia, was arrested and detained in the Gambia’s infamous Mile 2 prison. He was falsely accused of conspiracy and economic crimes after revealing systemic corruption in the government of dictatorial Gambian president, Yahya Jammeh. (lensculture)
This is another statement based image, the photographer Jason Florio, travels around the world to help make a statement of falsely accused prisoners. I like this image as it is a very bold statement and the colours use are very eye catching and clear.

John Stezaker- https://www.saatchigallery.com/artists/john_stezaker.htm

John Stezaker’s photography project, is very unique and eye catching. I love how he connects the two gender faces into one. Having a different overview of people.
John Stezaker is a contemporary British Conceptual artist best known for his collages of found images taken from postcards, film stills, and commercial photographs, film stills, and commercial photographs. He was a major influence on YBA artists like Tracey Emin and Damien Hirst when they first emerged in the late 1980s. (http://www.artnet.com/artists/john-stezaker/)

The photo above is my attempt to use John Stezaker’s techniques using photoshop.
